Distribution and habitat: Found as cultivated crop in Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Phillippines, Myanmar etc

Properties: Aromatic, antipyretic, antidermatic
Uses: It is used for flavoring biriyani preparations, ice cream, and pudding. It is used for fever, cough, skin diseases etc
Propagation: Suckers and stem cuttings
Agrotechnology: Rooted materials are planted in pits in the main field. Leaves can be harvested from the sixth month. The leaves regrow quickly under hot and moist conditions and harvesting can be continued for 4-5 months. In waterlogged situations growth is poor.
