Distribution and Habitat: Throughout Deccan peninsula.
Botany A herbaceous plant with stout and hollow stem grows to a height upto 5 m.
- Leaves: Very large up to 45 cm long in lower part of the stem, main nerve of the leaf is whitish.
- Flowers: Appear in very large terminal branches, white in colour.
- Fruits: are up to 1 cm in diameter. Seeds are many and small, yellowish brown in colour.
Properties: Antiseptic
Chemical constituents: Lobeline, lobelanidine
Uses: It is used in scorpion bite, asthma and bronchitis
