Distribution and habitat: It is a medium sized tree and is distributed in Western Peninsula and Ceyon.
Botany: A medium sized tree with rough deeply fissured bark and grayish brown coloured, perfectly glabrous throughout, branchlets stout.
- Leaves: Linear oblong or elliptic or rounded at the tip, base not narrowed into the petiole, glabrous on both surfaces. Leaves 4-6 by 3.8-4.0 cm, shiny above, delicately reticulate beneath; nerves very slender, 12-15 pairs; petioles 2-3 cm,
- Inflorescence: Panicles axillary and terminal, about as long as the leaves. Flowers in small clusters, quite glabrous, nearly sessile.
Properties: Central nervous system depressor
Uses: It is useful on joints to alleviate pain
