Distribution and habitat: Throughout South and South East Asia.

Botany: Small evergreen tree 12-15 m tall; diameter 30 cm; bark dark brown with pungent smell;

  • Leaves: Dark green above, paler beneath; narrowly oblong acute or acuminate margin white, base, glabrous; lateral veins and reticulations obscure; Petioles 1.2-1.8  cm long;
  • Flowers: Umbellate racemes. Sepals pubescent, subulate 2.5 mm long.  Petals pale yellow, linear oblong, 1 cm long. Capsule greenish-yellow;
  • Seeds: Red.

Use: General antidote

Propagation: By cuttings.
