Distribution and habitat: Distributed through Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil nadu, Andrapradesh, North East India, Srilanka and Malaya.
Botany: Small shrub, branches pubescent upwards
- Leaves: Alternate, simple long, lamina ovate or lanceolate, pubescent on veins, spike dense bracts softly hairy, bracteoles present
- Flowers: Greenish blue or purplish, tubular , tubes long, narrow
- Fruit: Capsules long stalked, ovoid, seeds pale.
Chemical constituents: Orientin, vitexin, and their isoflavones.
Uses: It affects in cardio vascular system. Used in Jaundice, menorrhagia and rheumatism.
